![]() ![]() The original 1993 Doom (along with Doom II) is now playable in virtual reality, thanks to a new patch for one of the games 3D rendering ports, GZDoom. Not have to go through option menus of crap they may or may not understand. With the open beta for id Softwares Doom reboot approaching, its time to revisit the classic first-person shooter that started it all - but with a whole new perspective. I just figured Doomretro because it's obvious he's new and instead of bogging him down with options, mise well keep it simple, where he can just drop the wad in the folder click and play. GZDoom would be something a new person could jump into once they're ready. ![]() If the op is just trying to play Doom it's the easiest to work with because they won't have to fiddle with pages of options just for display settings, or control options, or anything else. Thankfully it's Doom we're dealing with so there's ports coming out of the walls to choose from, so people looking to play the game should ask themselves what they want out of the experience beforehand (since there's probably a port for it - even VR, if I'm not mistaken). I still say it's a port worth checking out but many things it does differently and otherwise can't (or won't by design) do make it the type of port to not use as one to start out on. TheMonkofDestiny: It's not really minimal in terms of changes either.
